Our purpose is to provide welcoming, accessible opportunities for people of all ages to take part in drama, whether performing onstage or contributing to the many backstage and production roles that make each show possible.

Project Description

Musicial Production

Our proposed project is the production of the musical "The Wizard of Oz", which will be staged at Wick Assembly Rooms for 4 public performances in September 2026. This large-scale community production will bring together over 75 participants, including a cast, chorus, production team, and a local dance group. This project is particularly significant for Wick Players, as it will be the first time we have staged a full-scale musical as a club. It represents an exciting new step for Wick Players and offers a fantastic opportunity, particularly for young people, to get involved in a larger, more dynamic style of performance that combines acting, singing, and dance. The project will involve a structured programme of weekly rehearsals over several months, increasing in frequency closer to the performance dates. Activities will include acting rehearsals, vocal coaching, choreography sessions, and technical production work such as set construction, costume design, lighting, and sound. The production will be delivered by volunteers, supported by an experienced creative team including a director, musical director, choreographer and vocal coach. Participants will span a range of ages and experience levels, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity and skill development. Outputs will include multiple rehearsal sessions where skill and confidence will be built, and four full-scale performances, providing a high-quality, accessible entertaining production to our local community. This is a musical adventure suitable for all ages.
