Project Summary

Wester Loch Ewe Trust, established in 2015, led the community asset transfer of the former Old School and is developing it as a sustainable community hub in a remote Highland area. Our aim is to reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, and strengthen community resilience by providing inclusive activities, services, and opportunities shaped through ongoing local consultation.

Project Description

Rural Young Entrepreneur's Project

We propose a hands-on pilot program supporting young people and families in Wester Loch Ewe to develop entrepreneurial skills and explore small scale business ideas. Delivered at the Old Schoolhouse, the project will combine practical workshops with real-world experience, culminating in a community showcase event where participants can test and present their ideas. The program will run over 8 - 10 weeks, with weekly 2 - 3 hour sessions for up to 6 participants. Sessions will cover key topics including idea generation, pricing, budgeting, marketing, and customer engagement, alongside opportunities for informal work experience and peer learning. Participants will be supported to develop and trial a simple business or product during the program.
